Dr Peter Bergin

Head of Heart Failure Services
& Heart Centre, The Alfred

Dr Peter Bergin is currently the Medical Head of Heart Failure and Heart Transplantation at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, a position he has held for the last 30 years. He has extensive experience in the management of all aspects of Heart Failure from outpatient management of asymptomatic left ventricular dysfunction to the treatment of end-stage heart failure. This includes use of mechanical support, both temporary and permanent as well as use of investigational drugs and devices in severe heart failure.

Dr Bergin's other major interest is Echocardiography and multimodality imaging in Heart Failure. He has extensive teaching experience and was Director of Training for Cardiology at the Alfred Hospital for many years. He continues to be an active educator both within and outside the hospital.
